Fundraising Letter:

I hope you are enjoying the beginning of the holiday season! I am going to cut right to the chase - This past Friday we launched our Latitude 49 fundraiser for the 2019 fiscal year that culminates on Dec. 3rd with Giving Tuesday. Our 11-day campaign is set to be a short ride in a fast machine, and we are asking again for your help to super-charge our efforts!

You have given generously in the past, and with your help, we’ve had an incredibly successful 2019 that included educational residencies and performances at Princeton University, Baylor University, and the University of Tennessee at Martin. We commissioned and premiered several new works, including our dynamic collaboration with the Chicago Fringe Opera company that culminated in the Love Wounds production featuring music by composer Christopher Cerrone. We’ve worked with some of the most committed and brilliant student-composers that we’ve worked with to date, recorded an album with our incredible composer-in-residence Juri Seo, and are set to release our album Wax and Wire on the New Amsterdam Records label on Feb 7, 2020. Each of these projects has been enriched by YOUR generosity and that of our family of donors who believe in the mission of what we are doing. We are so thankful for you!

We have a saying in L49… “upping the Andy”, typically deployed on tour after we’ve filled our bellies with a meal lovingly created by our saxophonist and resident chef Andy Hall, and particularly apt when his culinary skills are even more impressive than the last time. Now I am asking you to “up the ante” with us, and raise the stakes on what we are able to accomplish this coming year. Our goal is $5000 – will you help us reach our goal?

Giving is as easy as a click through our website (www.latitude49music.com) or through our Facebook campaign, but act now as our campaign this year is on a fast-track. Each gift, no matter the size, is a vote of confidence in what we are accomplishing through music. I recently learned of a quote by the German painter Gerhard Richter who said, “Art is the highest form of hope” and that really resonated with me. We desperately need art in our world to reflect our humanity and to give us hope.

Thank you for being a part of our family, and from all of us in L49, happy holidays and THANK YOU for all that you do to make art and hope alive!

With sincere gratitude,

Jani Parsons

Executive Director of Latitude 49
